Ringing Report 11 – 12 April 2024
The weather was warmer than it had been but mostly overcast, there was a breeze on the second day. The ground was starting to dry out on top but was still squidgy in places following the floods.
The Sparrowhawk was a first year female so probably not breeding yet. It had a much extended crop from a recent meal.
The Cetti’s Warbler was ringed on the Island in November 2022 as a juvenile. One has not been seen or heard for over a year, so hopefully this male will attract a mate.
The Greenfinch was a first year female. They have been heard more and more on the Island recently.
There was a Blue Tit ringed on 25 January 2015, a female with a brood patch, so breeding somewhere close. One of the Great Tits was bred in Nesting Box 10 in 2022.
