Ringing Report 2 – 3 December 2025

The weather was still, cold and at times misty with temperatures close to freezing. The catch shows the variety of bird species on the Island. The Woodpecker was a juvenile male. The Coal Tit was the second juvenile one caught in the last couple of months.

Three Cetti’s Warblers were caught, one was a male ringed at this time last year, the other two were a pair caught in the same net at the same time. It is suspected that the last years bird was passing through, hopefully the pair will stay.

The Chiffchaffs are interesting as the numbers are much higher than last year with one of the re-trapped birds having been caught originally at this time last year. Most are probably passing through on their way further south. The two re-trap juveniles were ringed last month.

During the ringing session a Kingfisher flew across the Island and two Muntjacs were seen.
