Ringing Report 21- 22 August 2025
The weather was overcast but there was little wind. Six nets were used aiming for warblers, but not many were caught; and no Willow Warblers on this occasion. However, it was good to see that Great Spotted Woodpecker and Treecreeper had bred successfully in the vicinity of the Island.
The adults that have bred are still moulting and are still keeping out of sight as they remain more vulnerable to predation, hence the low numbers of re-trap adults.
A Reed Warbler that was ringed as a juvenile on the Island in August 2022 was controlled by another ringer at Clopton Medieval Village, in Cambridgeshire on 13 July this year. It must have been breeding in the vicinity as it had a brood patch.
