Ringing Report 18 July 2025
There was rain over night but once the vegetation had dried out the weather was first overcast and then the sun came out.
The catch was unusual, in that it consisted mainly of juveniles: the only adults were Reed Warblers. The numbers of Great Tits were much lower compared to the number of Blue Tits. It will be interesting to see if the hot dry weather has affected the young adversely. The young Blue Tits included ones from nest boxes 1, 3 and 5.
A good number of Reed Warblers could be heard in the reed bed but that is so overgrown with bindweed that it is not possible to penetrate it to put up a net.
