Ringing Report 28 – 29 May 2026
The weather was mostly overcast, and a little rain came down; as a result, the birds were not moving around so the catch was small. We did catch a fourth Garden Warbler, another male.
Two of the re-trapped Blackcaps were from previous year, one from May 2025 and one from August 2023. There was also a Reed Warbler from July 2025. The Juvenile Great Tit was from Box 28.
Mammals seen included Fox by the timber pond and Weasel near the Bee hives. Dragonflies and Damselflies were abundant, particularly Banded Demoiselle by the entrance to the bees and the beginning of the reed bed. Also seen were Azure Damselflies and Common Blue Damselflies. A Hairy Dragonfly was also found as was a new species for the Island the Norfolk Hawker, which has been spreading west from Norfolk.
Painted Lady butterfly was seen in the Meadow as were Red Admiral, Brimstone and Holly Blue. The Dipping Pond has a number of Froglets in it.
